Versatile, what is your point of this posting? I could waste alot of time posting articles about pedophiles, rapists and murders in KCMO. Isn't Independence, Mo considered the meth capital of the USA?
My point is that Overland Park is "NOT" the land of milk and honey. As many others have posted. Many from Overland Park have the attitude that they are better than most. Anone living in Overland Park must get many of their amenities from Kansas City Mo. Kansas City Mo provides the essential backbone of this large metropolitan area. Many fom Overland Park love to go to the Chiefs games but they still like to diss anyone from Kansas City. I am just standing up for my city.

Kansas City has just opened up a new World War I museum. It is considered to be one of the best in the world and compares only to the one in Great Britain. Overland Park sure wants all the amenities that Kansas City offers but DOES NOT offer any of the culture you find in Kansas City.

I am not related to Quantrill but i knew a man as a child that had an Uncle that road with Quantrill. His name was Bill Vaughn and when he was captured by the Union army they planned to hang him. Quantrill sent them a message that if they hang any of his men; he would hang ten men for everyone of his hung. The Union hung ten men and Quantrill hung 100 men!

Do you really think i am that mean? I just get so tired of people from Overland Park dissing people from Kansas City and the city in general.

Many people from KCMO have the same attitude.

Well, you seem to have similar attitude for those on the Kansas side.

And how are they dissing KCMO? Is it because the majority of JOCO tax payers refuse to have their tax money spent on projects that seem to benefit KCMO only?

I am not a resident of either Jackson or JOCO, but it appears that many KCMO residents think that JOCO-ians OWE them. Spend your own money on your own county. If this doesn't work, maybe vote in leadership that will get the job done right the first time.

And where is all the tax-money that KCMO is making off of the casinos? This should be more than enough to help finance a downtown stadium and make the roads on the MO side tollerable.

In reply to KC JAYHAWK. Kansas City has seemed to get by all these years without money from Johnson Cty. Mo. money built the Sports arena that people from all around the metro enjoy and all the other great amenities that persons from Johnson Cty come across the line to enjoy. So are you saying that we should take money from the casinos that is supposedly earmarked for education and use it to build another stadium?
Would you be so kind as to show me where people from Kansas City think that people from Johnson County owe us anything at all. I am confused as to how you come to this conclusion.
Look back at some of my other posts. I have offered help to people interested in both sides of the stateline.
Mo roads! Sure some of them are bad. I guess you can avoid them by staying out of Mo. You are welcome to come on over but staying out of Mo is my best answer to your complaint! The major highways aroud Kansas City are a lot better than in the last two yrs or so. I-70 is still the pits. I-29 and I-35 are in great shape as well as 71 hwy going south and 50 hwy going east is in great shape as well.

And all this from a person living in a state that the main tourist atttraction is Cabelas' a retail store!
Politics! I thought we are not supposed to talk politics in this forum. I could really bend your ear!

Default I wonder what they paid to get that rating

I live in Lenexa, which buts up to OP.
The crime rate is rising. My daughter's car has been broken into twice at a bowling alley on Metcalf. Highly visible location, police on site and cameras but nothing is done.
They keep plowing under green space to build office buildings while there are enough empty buildings to house most of the city.
The school district has gone down the tubes due to poor management.
If you are a newspaper reader, you are out of luck. The entire metro (KS, MO) has only 1, I repeat ONE major newspaper and it is the pits. You see something on TV news and 3 days later it is in the KC Star. It is a fluff paper, no news. They ran about a 3 month piece of junk on being single in Missouri. This has mass appeal.
Super, ultra-conservative verging on fanaticism. (remember "we" don't believe in evolution)
Our new District Attorney is scary.
High cost of housing.
20 years ago, yes, the entire area was a great place to live but now.... it's a joke.

Default Dear Versatile

Honey, why are you so bitter?

I live in Lenexa, been here for over 20 years. Now of course I am a Native Texan so I know I have a leg up on everyone because of that but, I have never gotten the impression that anyone here was any better than me.

It could be that I don't pay much attention to that. I have a pretty high self-esteem and what others think of me doesn't really make me stay up at night.

I think that many of the folks here have more debt than I do because I don't live outside of my means. I don't think that people are as friendly here as in Texas, I actually find most pretty sullen and sad and .... worried about what others think.

Maybe you need to look at yourself and figure out why you are worried about what others are thinking, who gives a rats patoot.

Be honest, would you get out at 11 p.m. and walk along 12th and Prospect or down Troost? I will go out and walk on Pflumm and 87th at midnight. I might get run over by a drunk because we have no police visibility, but I will not get hit by a drive-by bullet gone crazy, I will not get raped and I will not get mugged. Atleast not now. This will change in the coming year with the "City Center Square" that is being built because of the increase in traffic but that is another post.
