I look at the Cricket plans, which we don't here where I'm currently at, and they look hard to beat. What is the real coverage and service like? We use Straight Talk here now and don't have any trouble. Seems the cheapest way to go is pre paid anymore. We started our 2 boys on a pre paid last year and liked them so much that is what we use. I miss my I phone badly but I'm just too cheap I guess to go back to AT&T and take my beating.
Any other providers with similar plans?

My kids are just an extra line on our family plan, so $10 a month. We use Verizon. I know nothing about cricket. I just need a plan that covers the entire USA and does it well. Verizon seems to work.

I had Cricket several years ago. It was actually pretty good. Nowdays, they have a deal where you can prepay for roaming should you take a trip out of town. Coverage is still very spotty in rural areas. Boost Mobile I think is another prepaid service around here. It's owned by Sprint if I'm not mistaken. Sprint is one of the more affordable post-paid carriers. The unlimited data plan is quite a bit cheaper than AT&T's.. especially if you count the iphone...something I would love to have as a mac guy. oh well.

The only probably with Cricket is that they lease their network from the major providers and those providers customers get priority. So, if there is heavy usage in areas, you could lose signal, get dropped call, or not be able to make them.

Unless you have credit issues, I would suggest the major providers. I have T-Mobile and have had it for close to 10 years and never really had an issue. I get coverage everywhere in the city. They have decently priced plans.

I've used prepaid for years (never used Cricket, however), and really only recommend it to customers like me...people who essentially ever use a mobile phone conversationally or as a regular contact number. I travel a lot on my own and keep one in my car for roadside emergencies/emergency contact only...I really only call out from it as well, it's not a contact # people have for me. They make perfect sense for infrequent usage, in a way that maintaining a contract with a company doesn't. But for most people's usage, they're really seldom going to be the most economical way to go. I would probably use prepaid for teen phones if I had teenagers, as well.

We just like the wide open unlimited plan for 45 per month. I couldn't find that on post paid. I had AT&T for years but hated the fact that the pre paid was less money. Trouble is AT&T has a small coverage area for the pre paid ro at least they did. Once we started doing the pre paid way I guess we haven't wanted to spend more for the unlimited plans on post paid. Thank you for all the replys.
