I heard Hays might be a nice place to live. With some pro's and con's., as I've read in some other threads.

What's the humidity like in the summer? summer hot?

Winter cold? snow levels?

Does the wind blow like crazy?

What is Volga German Catholic?

All the amenities? good shopping? and hospital?

How do they stop the illegals from coming in?

Good place to retire?

Most importantly, would YOU live there?

Thanks

Default c'mon, throw me a bone

What is it? Has the Volga German Catholic underground issued a decree declaring punishment to all who assist the evil Californian? I read they have some pull around those parts. I didn't know it was that much.

The Volga Germans found me!! They tracked me down to an isolated stretch of the California desert. I have no idea how they found me!! They convinced me that I wouldn't like Hays, and then they were kind enough to drive me to the hospital for treatment.

Hays is hot in the summer with low humidity values.
The winter cold is easy to tolerate because the air is dry.
Snowfall is light, but blizzards can occur.
The wind is harsh in all seasons.
The Volga Germans are Germans from Russia who migrated to Ellis County in the 1870s.
Hays has all the ammenities you would expect for a town of 20,000 including a good hospital.
Hays has a strong economy compared with many areas of rural NW Kansas.
It would probably be a good place to retire.
I lived there in the past, and still have strong connections in the surrounding area due to the fact that my relatives still manage the family ranch. (This is in rural NW Kansas)

I grew up in Hays. It's a great place to raise a family, if that's what you're interested in. I am Volga German... and baptised catholic. Are you frightened?
The temperature has been hovering around 100 for the last few days. This is typical for July-August. Like Plains10 mentioned, the humidity is relatively low; 15-30% is pretty average. Here in eastern Kansas, where I currently live, the humidity is usually 50%+.
If you'd like to get a feel for the people in and around Hays, send me a private message, and I'll give you more information.
I'd love to move back to Hays in a few years.
