Hello
I know that the online presence of the Kakui'lua development portrays the great luxurious "lifestyle" of resort living there but I wonder if there is anyone here who might be willing to tell me who actually lives there what's it like being a resident and member of the Clubhouse? How is it dealing with the influx of constant renters staying at the Lodge, for example? What is the pool like with all the vacationing kids? Have you ever taken any classes that are offered at the Spa? Being a resident, is there much to do, and would there be opportunities to engage in any shared social life with permanent neighbors? Just trying to get an idea from someone that lives there how they like it, what are the obvious benefits, and what are any drawbacks?
Thank you very kindly

Kukui ula is indeed a very nice property, plus nearby, you have Kukui ula shopping village, lawai beach and great snorkeling, small kuku ula beach that has a lot less visitors mobbing the sands, koloa town, poipu beach, and hiking maha ulepu from the hyatt to ha'ulu .

We did not live at Kukui'ula but we did live for 10 years on kauai, 8 of hose years across the road from Kalapaki Beach...and the Lihue Marriot.

We are now back on the mainland, living in Dana Point, Ca., South Orange County at the Beach. Same life style as kauai.

Where we lived at banyan Harbor , they were short term rentals, long term leases, time shares, and full time owners, and part time owners. In our opinion, we would not do that same type of property again.

We had great owners living next to us. Next door to them was a short term rental, that constantly had loud tourists,
We also had construction workers from the mainland who were semi long term personnel who were very lound, and it was great when they were gone, you will NOT have that kind of a problem in kukui' ula.

I believe that they have several different types of properties available in Kuku ula. We never called it a lodge, but we would drive around and look at some of the properties. We would live there in hot second . What we observed was new
homes, and maybe shared units, but it was peaceful, wonderfully landscaped, and a great location . We left kauai about 5 years ago. And yes, we miss our he island, and the people and friends.

As to short time visitors,...a week , to a month, or longer term.

* The good ones :First Night and next day on island, and they would be super excited, yelling and laughing, and being very happy to be on vacation on Kauai. It is a most special feeling to be on kauai . After a couple of days, things would calm down, they would be out hiking, snorkeling, kayaking, beaching it, shopping, helo tours, etc, and would slow down and meld more into island style. Plus, be somewhat tuckered out after their daily activities.

* The not so good ones, were loud all the time, no respect, and also would leave their A/C running all day, even when they were gone, which is a big hit to the owners of the property. Huge electric bills. And of course, over loading our antiquated electrical plant.

* I would think life would be pretty darned good up on the hillsides of Kukui' ula, You might get on the Kauai Trip Advisor forum...they are much more active than here and very knowledgeable. Good people who can probably help you out with what you need to know.

There is lot more to learn about living on kauai as opposes to visiting , Perhaps you are all ready aware of that.

But from what we have seen, of kukui' ula it is pretty nice, However, if there a lot of short term tourists, with kids staying there, well...peace and quiet is not one of the amenities . We did not see any of that during our drives checking out the property.

We do not know anything abut a clubhouse, I know there is golf course up there. We were very active on Kauai for nearly 10 years.

After visiting first for 12 years of fabulous visits. Not much sitting around going on, we were out having a grand time experiencing the treasures of kauai on all shores, beaches, mountains, trails, rivers and activites.

We had zero problems meeting new friends, How we did that , and what our lives were like on island, we can pass on to you if you wish.

E komo mai ( welcome ) to Kauai

P.S,

As soon as this covid mess is over, we will be returning to Kauai for a three week visit. Hopefully May/June 2021 Turn us loose !
