Quite blown away by this, hearing it for the first time tonight...funeral dirgelike, almost spiritual, but powerful....and don't forget that the Everly parents, Ike and Margaret, were very popular radio singers in the old-timey mode in the 40's....and the boys guested on their kentucky radio show, of which they would sing old standards and country hits each week with the parents....I believe no radio shows exist of that, but if so, I'd love to hear it..

I got to go to one of their Labor Day concerts in Central City several years ago. Always has a huge crowd. Just bring your lawn chairs or blankets and get comfortable and enjoy some good music.

I grew up listening to the Everly Brothers and others of that era. They sang some beautiful songs.
I used to have one of the albums of their greatest hits. Wish I knew what happened to it.
I have a favorites list of their songs on You Tube.

A great duo of singers and songwriters. They were so good The Beatles modeled much of their work after them.

i actually prefer the original version of this song, done by the louvin brothers. im not a big fan of the kind of poppy upbeat everly brothers version, i like the more traditional sound.

I've never heard of this song. While I enjoy the Everly Brothers, I like the version by the Lovin Brothers the best also. Never heard of those guys, but a nice traditional country song. Thank you guys for sharing!!

Yeah, they are from the Central City area and had these concerts every Labor Day weekend for years. I think the money was for the town, but thinking also the school system.

The version I like best is the one the Everly Brothers performed on the Johnny Cash show. It's so heartfelt that even those of us who've never seen Kentucky can relate to it as "home."
