We'll be retiring in a couple of years and are looking for places to move to. We're curious about the Carter County area. What can you tell me about it? I'm especially interested in the people and how we might fit in. And also crime.....is that much of a problem?

Anybody have any knowledge about Carter and the surrounding counties? We were hoping to take a drive down there this weekend but something came up.

Carter County is about 20 minutes from the Ashland/ Huntington urban area. Just based on driving I-64 through there there seemed to be a lot of restaurants and stores in Grayson.
There are a lot of nice sandstone formations and caves in Northeastern KY. Carter Caves State Park is located in the area
