I wish I could have found that site - pasting and copying is a lot easier than ranking
120+ districts

I thought West Point KY looked like a crap hole, based on their schools I was right. Hardin Co has some of the nastiest towns in the entire state

Census honey you are such a nice guy, I wish you would choose what you say a little bit better. That is very offensive to those from there.

Boone county is great....as long as your kids are "normal". Throw in special needs, and well.....I'm not the only parent I know who's had issues.

Beware of shopping for test scores. Many schools have now scuttled "teaching" for "test training." If a subject is not expected to be part of the upcoming test it is virtually non-existent in the minds of the school system. In short "the test", not learning, is 100% driving the boat in Kentucky schools.

Yes, I am a product of McLean Co Schools, have many family members who are educators involved in Daviess County.

I hypothesize that faith, discipline, and traditional economies have more to do with those results than most liberal educators will acknowledge. Those same foundations are the primary reason Oldham County and the Louisville Catholic and Traditional Public schools are so outstanding verses the others.

Wikipedia also said Kentucky has already signed I-69. No they haven't. What they did is put signs up saying future I-69.

I have a hard time believing this. Where is DuPont Manual, one of the best schools in the state, on that list of high test scores? Not to mention the fact that these scores do not take into account so, so much else--in fact, everything else--about schools. Manual and Male are two of the most outstanding schools in the country, and I think it says a lot about the CATS test, not the school districts, when those schools aren't ranked among the top scorers.

EDIT: I see now that that was a list of elementary schools. my bad. BUT THE REST OF THE POST STANDS.

Default Schools around Fort Knox and your insights

I'm confused and looking for the best place/direction for schools around Fort Knox. I'm moving next summer and considering the Dye Valley area but not sure if they have the better schools or not. We have a 10 and 12 year boy. Any insight on schools in the area would be greatly appreciated.

Drew, I don't think anyone can give you a very accurate prediction of how BRAC will affect Jefferson, Meade, Hardin, Bullitt, or Breckinridge County schools. Those are the school districts closest to Ft. Knox. Quite honestly, unless you are willing to drive quite a way to get your child in Larue, Grayson, Spencer, Shelby, Oldham or one of the nearby S. Indiana schools, I think anyone giving you a promise is likely over exaggerating. There are some mighty good schools in the first counties named, but overcrowding, especially with a inwardly migrating population will affect many schools in yet to be determined manners.

I wish you the very best. You and your family will probably like Kentucky.
