Paducah has been so gung-ho in keeping the stupid quilt show that they fouled up big time. Apparently, the city approved $1.6 million in improvements to a property downtown that is going to house the inflatable convention center (that is another laugher) and come to find out, after construction began, the city DOESN'T OWN THE PROPERTY!!!

Did the morons in the Paducah city hall not realize that they have these books that hold things called deeds? I think Paducah is run by people with the collective IQ of a grape.
In the three years I have used this forum to review positive input and CONSTRUCTIVE criticism and ideas, but I have always been able to count on Mr. kentuckydad95 to provide all of the non-constructive criticism needed. Put your actions where your mouth is and make this whole area of the state a better place for all of us. (As usual, there is a lot more to this whole story than you are aware of). Go stand on a street corner somewhere and blow off til your heart's content. But for the rest of us folks, try to find more positive things for all us.

"for the rest of us..."

Sue, speak for yourself. Although I only recently registered here, I've been reading kentuckydad95's posts for quite some time, and have enjoyed them immensely. His criticism is spot on, whether you regard it as "constructive" or not.

Thanks -- actually I was "speaking for myself" and replying to his criticism of Paducah and not knowing the whole story. And if you think it's "spot on", you don't know the entire story either.

Why should he? Is what he's saying untrue?

Please explain yourself.

I was OK with the Paducah income tax when we lived there because it seemed a worthwhile trade for excellent public schools, a fabulous public library, a viable downtown, and lots of town-sponsored activites. The Parks and Recreations dept has tons of good offerings for kids and adults. I moved there from the dysfunctional, dirty deep south, so Paducah seemed utopian to me. But 5%?
Also, the quilt show is a misery for the residents because you basically have to stay home the whole week to avoid traffic and crowds. we joked about renting out our house just so we could get out of dodge.

I've been through Paducah a couple times during quilt shows and didn't have a lot of trouble getting through town.
