Is there an Aldi's food mart anywhere near Greeneville, TN?

Knoxville and Maryville are the closest.

Thank you, Beretta.
We've moved in to our new place in Afton and we love TN so much. Also, as has been said so many times, the people here are so kind and considerate. We're very happy that we've moved here.
Have a great day!

Actually there are two ALDI in Asheville, NC that may be a bit closer. I don't think you would want to go shopping to bring ice cream though. Google Maps say the one on Swannanoa River Road is 74 miles from the intersection of Old Erwin Highway in Afton (that is going TN 107 to Erwin and I-26/I-240 to Tunnel Road- Swananaoa River Road in east Asheville). A more "scenic" route south out of Afton that shows as 64 miles takes you through Hot Springs, Marshall, and Weaverville to Asheville (Afton, TN 107, US 321, TN 70, NC 108, US 25/70, I-26, I-240, Tunnel Road, Swannanoa River Road).

This is probably way to far too go for groceries, but the reason I bring this up is that in Weaverville at the Zuma Coffee House on every Thursday night they have a bluegrass jam that is hosted by Bobby Hicks. I haven't been but a friend of mine (who is an actual musician- not an amateur videographer like me) says that it is a really great jam- "best around". They were going regularly back in the winter and early spring before other priorities took over their Thursdays.

Asheville is a neat city for visiting. I wouldn't like to have to deal with some of their traffic on a regular basis though. It's not that there is so much traffic but there are area of poor expressway design that can't handle peak volumes without virtual grid lock. Tunnel Road used to turn into a parking lot for hours before they built I-240. And, heaven help you if you miss your desired exit on I-240...

Jim: Thanks for the Bluegrass jam tip. I should be able to drive on Rte 70 all the way to Weaverville according to my Atlas.
I had the great honor of playing with Bobby for 7 practices and 8 shows in NYS a few years back. I may just drop in on his jam session and say "Hi".

Thanks, Jim. I went to Bobby's jam (Zuma's is actually in Marshall) and had a great time. I picked with Bobby for over two hours. It was great to see him again. I will be returning this Thursday to play again. Thanks again for the info.

I think I must have been having a "senior moment" when I typed Weaverville, not Marshall, for Zuma's location. It's even in a different county but not too far down the road.

That's quite alright. We enjoyed the little extra drive and we got to see the beautiful main street of Weaverville, too.

You might find this YouTube video production of interest. It was just put up about a week ago by a young film student from ASU in Boone, NC.

YouTube - ‪To Play With Bobby Hicks‬‏

I think she would be the young lady playing the banjo in the video. There are other interesting videos on this channel.

Thanks Jim. That's a great fiddle tune. We all played it last Thursday when I was there, too. It's called something about a "Squirrel".....maybe "The Squirrel Hunter's" or something like that. Roger Howell was there, too. He's a very talented fiddler.
