My husband's job is relocating us to the Tri Cities area. My Husbands office is in Johnson City. How many miles is Bristol TN from Johnson City, Tn? Also, how is the commute? We are very unfamiliar with the area. We are moving from eastern NC. I would appreciate any info. Thanks!

do a mapquest or google map to tell you how many miles it is between the exact address. If you want to know the road it is a 4 lane highway between these two cities . HWY 11E . If i were to guess it may be 20 miles between the two.

20 miles is about right. Any particular reason you will live in Bristol? There are some very nice areas closer to Johnson City to live.

11E is a real good road - I drive it part of the way to work every day.

Why would you want to live in Bristol? There is another thread that will quickly relate what an awful place Bristol, TN/VA is.

Well, I have lived here in the Tri-Cities all of my life and I personally do not see where Bristol is any worse than Kingsport, or Johnson City, or anywhere else in the Tri-Cities area.

As mentioned on the other thread, I think its where there is just not as many "high paying" factories in Bristol that makes it seem less pleasant. Bristol VA is very attractive I think now because not only of the lower taxes, but because as far as retail, Exit 7 Bristol VA has as much to offer, if not more than Kingsport or Johnson City and its all right there together. Have you been to southeast Bristol (outside the city limits? Very nice rural area. Mountains, lakes, etc.

Oh yeah, me too. I know many "non-natives" from places like Florida, Ohio, Georgia, California and even Washington state that love it here. We actually rent a house to some folks originally from Hawaii and then from California that love it here in Bristol and refuse to go back!

All kidding aside, I think Bristol is very nice. Almost any placed up here is nice. The appeal varies according to personal tastes.
