I have a 6 & 10 year old and would like to find a nice neighborhood that is somewhat close to his job and to Johnson City for the shopping. Thanks for any responses
I would recommend Colonial Heights or Gray. Colonial Heights would be very convenient to both Bristol and Jonesborough and Sullivan South is a good school. The Rock Springs area in Kingsport is a bit up 81 toward Bristol and is very nice area. Good luck and welcome!

Thanks for all the advice. My husband started new job today and so far so good. He really likes it up there. It is such a drastic change from Florida. The weather, the people, the views, everything. I think I am going to homeschool until we find a house, so I dont have to switch schools so quickly. Is there any good private schools?

Hello I live in Kingsport and moved here from upstate new york 6 years ago and love it...Yes eastman is here but it really isn't that bad..there are lots of nice home to rent or own in outskirts of town. The schools have been very good my kids attended grammer schools and middle and high..DB and all do well. Not sure about the comute to Jonesboro..or bristol..depending on route it would be 20 minutes to half hour. As for attactions of this town. We have summer fun fest that is great to enjoy with family and also community pool ..have Fort Henry Mall..and lots of shopping. Yes it is much like JC in that aspect. We also have 2 Walmarts and a Kmart. We have cinama in mall with is a multi plex..and also tons of movie rentals shops. Rents I can tell you are cheaper than JC. But figure in gas from both places..and get the best figure. I like raising my family in Kingsport because it is smaller town then JC..and easier to keep up with everyone. Oh and Bay's Mountain is here and is beautiful in fall. Good luck with your choice and Welome to the area.

How is it comparing to FL? Are you happy with the move so far?
