How are jobs in Knoxville? I am aware that the current unemployment rate in Knoxville it is at about 8% which is pretty good but is there a diverse field of jobs in Knoxville for its size? Would I have a hard time finding anything in Sales? I need something while I attend UT, but then afterwards I would be looking for a career in this field. Can anybody help with this information.

Depending on what kind of sales you are interested in doing...I have noticed that alot of car places have been hiring sales people alot lately...Other than that idk what is doing good selling right now...Maybe cell phone sales?...Seems like Radioshack and all the cell phone carriers are always hiring here

There will always be sales jobs. Always. And for selling ANYTHING. The trick is you have to be good at it. Sales positions are always open because companies regularly hire people, much like throwing a plate of spaghetti against the wall and seeing what sticks. A lot of those jobs are straight commission so if you can't sell, the company doesn't take a loss.

Off the top of my head theres 7 Walmart Supercenters here and 4 Targets all in Knox County...Pretty crazy huh....Almost as many as Charlotte....Charlotte has 5 Targets and 8 Walmarts,And yet Knox is 3 times smaller than Charlotte..So yeah we got the Walmart and Targets here,As well as all the fast food places

You think I would have a hard time getting a job at one of them?

That is impossible for us to answer. We don't know you.

You can compare unemployment rates, though.

Charlotte: 11.1

Knoxville: 7.8

That means the chances of your getting a job in Knoxville is going to be higher, as opposed to Charlotte.

But once again, there is no way to know how hire-able you are.

Honestly walmart is not a good company to work for,And i do hate talking bad about companies,But they pay min wage and will work you to death in the process...Target pays a lil better but there also harder to get on with too...There application and interview process is pretty crazy for retail...I've tried to get on with em twice before in the past and no luck...I have a clean criminal and job record and still no luck...Walmart will hire about anybody tho cause there turn over rate is pretty high..I remember a manager at Walmart telling me once that for every one person they hire, another 2 or 3 quits...I would try maybe a department store in the mall or something,Or radioshack maybe if you wanna do retail/sales...Anything would be better than Walmart honestly
