As some might know, I've been comparin the pro's and cons of both Charlotte and Knoxville as far as prospective places to live. Both places seem to be wonderful places, crime rates arn't really that far apart. So in this one im wonderin Are there certain areas around Knoxville that I might wanna stay away from and what would be the best side of town to live in that still is somewhat affordable?

Places to avoid: Mangolia Ave,MLK Ave,Most of Western Ave,Broadway near Downtown,Parts of Summit Hill and Hall of fame,Univ Ave...All those would be the worst and lower income areas in Knox

Best areas: Powell,Farragut,Hardin Valley,And Halls would be my best choices to live

Fountain City and Bearden would also be good choices as well

Fountain City and Halls would probably be the two most affordable areas followed then by Powell

Yeah parts of South Knox are both good and somewhat bad...There is a few decent Apt. Complexes off Chapman Hwy that would be good for a college student to stay at

A good portion of West Knoxville is very nice, some areas more affordable than other areas. It would be useful to know what you consider to be "affordable", and also whether grade schools and high schools are necessary. As far as commuting from any part of the city...Knoxville is similar to most other large cities with the occasional gridlock...but generally in non-peak hours, traffic moves swiftly.
Both cities mentioned are really very nice, widely diverse culturally and filled with great people, great restaurants, loads of city pride, tons of things for kids to do...I think the basic difference between them is that they have the Great Smokey Mountains separating them. I would highly recommend either city to be an excellent place to live, raise a family, and retire.
May your burden be lightened by truth.
