One of the few things Maryville had over Knoxville is The Market.* Well, they just opened up a Knoxville location at Union and Gay. I'll be down there as soon as I can, that's for sure.

Fascinating that it was not that long ago that everyone was pining for some groceries to be offered downtown. Now there are at least a few places.

* Oh, how I tease!

The Laurel Creek Farms items are simply outstanding. Hands down the best quality in the area.

I agree. I met Tracy and his girls several years ago when he was selling out of the Oak Ridge farmer's market. You might even remember that. My little one played with his girls while we talked. Anyway, I've been buying his products for years but it will be very convenient to be able to get them downtown and not just at one of the farmer's markets.

I see that they also offer fresh seafood. I can't even begin to express my joy about that!

See, and you thought Maryville/Alcoa (I lump them together) just offered the airport/aluminum company and traffic... There is good stuff that comes out of the South of Knox.

I know of a little place in Alcoa if you can't find any in West Knoxville.

There is a little market on Sutherland that has them. So does Pratt's in Fountain City and I think Horn of Plenty on Middlebrook.

While the mega-marts have their place, you can't beat these type of markets that feature locally produced foods.

I for one do not buy produce in a supermarket that has to buy pre rippened goods so that they are not spoiled by time they get to the shelves.
