We have 6 dogs (ranging in weigh from 150 to 7 lbs/ age from 14 yrs to 2 yrs), no "dangerous" breeds. In some areas there appears to be a limit on the number of dogs you can have. We are interested in the Maryville/ Knoxville area, possibly in the Gatlinburg area. Anyone know anything about a dog limit? Thanks.

Last that I heard, it is four cats and dogs combined, per household, in Knoxville city limits. In Knox County, if a home sits on less than an acre, they can have up to five cats and/or dogs; 1.5-2 acres, 11-20 cats and/or dogs; 5+ acres, 21 or more cats and/or dogs.

And of course, if you rent, it is a different story per landlord. It's tough because I don't think most people should buy before they rent and get a feel for an area.

As Hik said, it all depends on your municipality. Always best to call the controlling government and inquire directly. As for enforcement, well, that will depend on the culture. I highly doubt anyone in Cocke County is going to give you crap about how many dogs you have, unless they're running wild on other folks' properties. In the City of Knoxville, well, that might be a different matter entirely.

There's a couple in Seymour that have 6 dogs. I think they are in Sevier County.
