We were out of town this past weekend at a gymnastics meet in Louisville, KY and the event was serving beer at the concession stand. The first thing I heard was “well, you can tell we are out of the Bible belt now”

The Baptist Cowboy

A cowboy, who just moved to Wyoming from Texas , walked into a bar and ordered three mugs of beer. He sat in the back of the room, drinking a sip out of each mug in turn. When he finished them, he came back to the bar and ordered three more.

The bartender approached him and told the cowboy, 'You know, a draft goes flat soon after I draw it. It would taste better if you just bought one at a time.'

The cowboy replied, 'Well, you see, I have two brothers. One is in Arizona , the other is in Colorado . When we all left our home in Texas , we promised that we'd drink this way to remember the days when we drank together. So I'm drinking one beer for each of my brothers and one for myself.'

The bartender admitted that this was a nice custom, and left it there.

The cowboy became a regular in the bar, and always drank the same way. He ordered three mugs and drank them in turn.

One day, he came in and only orders two mugs. All the regulars took notice and fell silent. When he came back to the bar for the second round, the bartender said, 'I don't want to intrude on your grief, but I wanted to offer my condolences on your loss.'
The cowboy looked quite puzzled for a moment, then a light dawned in his eyes and he laughed.

"Oh, no, everybody's just fine, " he explained, "It's just that my wife and I joined the Baptist Church and I had to quit drinking."
"Hasn't affected my brothers though!"
