Hi Gailli..... You seem to be having lots of fun. Everyone seems so nice and helpful here. You are from FL and can probably relate to how hard it is to leave sunny FL. We want to make the right move and be happy with our decision. We have lived in Miami and in Naples and now Cantonment.
Though we live very close to Al it is still FL. We are debating whether to move to Knoxville, Seymour, White Pine or Greenville, SC. We fell in love with the Greenville downtown area, also have heard the job market is very good in this area.
We are in our early 50's and this decision is very important at this time of our lives.
We need to find jobs, I am in finance and my hubby is in the parts dept, works at a dealership. I am an assistant branch mgr for a company and wonder how the salaries are there. This doesn't mean we won't work in another field.
We enjoy meeting people, the outdoors when it's not too hot. LOL We like to go to a nice restaurant once in a while and a play or a movie too.
We are open to your honest thoughts and suggestions. A move is always a hard one, to another state it's probably much harder.
I asked this about a week ago but can't find where I posted it......lost my place! I always read happy stories ( for the most part) of people moving and their experiences, hopefully we can be one in the near future. We need to sell our home in FL. and we want to put it on the market after elections. (not sure if this is the best time??)
Thanks for your thoughts! Have a great evening . . . .

First of all, yes some men come, my DH always go so bring him along for sure.

Okay, as far as moving from Florida to Tenn I guess its all in ones self preference. I was born in Miami and lived there til I was 33 then I moved to Ocala and lived there until 10 mths ago when I moved here. I never dreamed I would like living anywhere else but Fl but I do love it here. Now bear in mind I left my three kids, five grandkids, one Great Grandchild, one Great Grandchild on the way and another Grandchild on the way and moved here. I dont feel it was the wrong thing to do. They have their lives now and I felt I needed to be somewhere that I was happy. Florida's heat just became too much for me(I just turned 65) so that was a big factor. I love the weather here in TN, mind you the Ice takes a little getting used to but Seymour doesnt get a lot of ice or snow being in the Valley. I heard the most they ever got at one time was a few years back when they had 2 feet, but the snow here doesnt last past noon usually and they are good about salting the roads. I love Seymour, its a nice quiet town with hardly no crime. People are very friendly but it is hard to make friends, sure, people talk to you in the stores and all but a lot of them already have friends and family so its hard to break into a friendship although now its getting better thanks to the Boards. I have also met a few people here in Seymour now.

What I like about Seymour also is that you are short drives to Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, Knoxville, Maryville, Townsend and several other great areas not to mention the Smokies, Cherokee and of course the casino You are only 3 hrs from Nashville too. And as I mentioned before Seymour is in Sevier County which awards you a lot of benefits for free shows and discounted shows and restaurants and stores for being a "local" as they call you when you live in Sevier County. I cant speak for jobs as my DH is retired from the Navy, retired from the VFW also and I dont work either. You are only 20 min to downtown Knoxville and 15 min to Sevierville so I wouldnt think it would be hard to find work here. I cant speak for the other towns you mentioned but I know most people here in East TN are all happy with which ever area or town they live in, like I said its personal preference really.

Hope this helps, my hands are tired from typing

My DH and I are hoping to join you at Shoney's on Saturday! Will there be other 'retired age' menfolks attending? My hubby wants to make sure he isn't the only 'older' guy! Personally, I don't think of myself as 'older' just a bit more experienced!!

Can't wait to meet everyone!!
