Are there plans for more apartment housing in Fountain City? If this forum is any indicator, it seems that there is a growing demand...Maybe the area is ripe for a new urbanism development.

Ladies, where is a great place to get my haircut? Fountain City/ off Merchants Drive/Clinton Highway area would be close to my house.

Wow. I'm still searching. I went to Stout's near the duck pond, but I wasn't really happy with the color. Cut was okay. Not great.

Hiknapster,

We are looking for a house in fountain city right now, having been priced out of the South Knoxville market. Did you just purchase a house there? Might I ask you some questions about that (on another thread or IM I guess)?

BTW, the k is silent? Still doesn't make sense.

When I had my last haircut in Lexington, my hairstylist pulled out his book of stylists who are certified in color (like he is) and recommended Ross the Boss (there's one on Clinton Highway). I don't need color and I'm not sure how well they cut, so I thought I'd get personal recommendations. Getting a haircut from a new stylist is the scariest thing I ever do.

I've been going to Orange Curl for years. It's in West Knoxville, in the same shopping center on Kingston Pike just off Cedar Bluff with Krogers and Home Depot.
It's a traditional salon, no rock music, but cutters who know their stuff. Doesn't seem to be much change in staff. Broad clientele. I've seen males come in for cuts, as well as teens, kids and grandmothers. Not cheap, though but it's too hard to find someone who can give me a decent cut to shop for price.

Has anyone taken their kids to get their hair cut at Kids Fun Kutz? It's on Kingston Pike (I know--not in Fountain City). If so, what did you think about it? If not, where do you take them for haircuts? As an English teacher, I bypass any store that purposely misspells its name--it drives me insane. However, my kids miss Cookie Cutters and I never had to worry about them crying about getting their hair cut.
