So I called today to get the electric scheduled to switch over next week---would you believe she told me the average is $225 for elec , $30 for water and $45 for wastewater????!! I just don't see how that is right--

DH keeps telling me that it could possibly be due to the hot tub that was there (it is unhooked and on its way out before we sign on Wed.) and it was a foreclosure, so it may have been that whoever was there before just let things go...not sure. I know the windows need replaced, they are wood originals (35 yrs old) but GOODNESS!

and she politely informed me that with the increase effective in October, it will prob jump the elec about $13/1000KwH per month!

Oh boy, guess I better start working more overtime, huh?!

I don't know. She said that was the average, and like you said, some people run the bill up. I didn't call ahead about my bill because I wasn't too worried. Our first bill was about $158 for all three. I bet yours is close to that.

Good grief, I sure hope so! Like I said, I think some of it may have been the hottub- We still have the wood windows, so replacing those would make a difference I am sure, but also, we'll be able to open the windows for fresh air instead of like here where we can't open the windows at all

Our first bill here was $157, but that really didnt surprise me
(oh, and then the $25 water bill that is fixed)

I hope you're right, Hik! I think we have about the same SF, don't we?

$13/1000kWhr - I am just giddy. It is time for me to move. In San Diego the going rate is about .07/kWhr - $70/1000. $200+ for electric alone are normal and about $350+ with the air conditioner in Aug - Oct

well, she said $13 MORE per 1000KwH. But yeah, def an improvement, I see
It is an improvement over MD as well, but still don't want to pay $300+ every month for electric and water!

Yeah. But we are disappointed because we are use to low utility bills here. Our wages are a lot less. So no, we are not giddy.

I think so. I think our SF is 1,650.

We have the original windows, too. They are 53 years old. They are the metal crank ones, so they are quite effective, but I have no idea how we are suppose to put up screens.

Well, that gives me some hope, then. Our windows are wooden, and 35 yrs old, seem to have a pretty good seal when closed but I know obviously they don't compare to what's around now. Anyway, yeah, we have 1744 (and then the attached garage) so pretty close to the same, so I am feeling a little better now. Guess all we can really do is try to be conservative and see what happens

As for the crank windows, not sure how to do a screen on those either...hmmm...

I have KUB and my electric bill(just electric)was $132 this month, I dont consider that bad as I am used to paying at the minimum, $300 in the summer, but I do complain about my water. I live in a Townhome/1600 sq ft and since they cant measure my sewage they just double my water so my water bill runs about $55-$60 on top of my electric, and we all know, cable starts out with a $99 special for internet, cable and phone but by the time you add HD and DVR you end up with a bill like I do of $150 a month.

No, I dont complain about electric but I sure fuss about the other bills/cable/water/internet/phone
