I am relocating to work in Sevierville, TN from Sarasota, FL. What recommendations do you have on housing around $150,000 in the area (w/in 30 min drive)? We are 25 years old and would prefer to live in a younger area. Is Knoxville too far of a commute? Since we are unfamilar with the area, we may have to rent something for a couple months while we search to buy. Any recommendations on short-term rentals?

While I will have a job, my wife will be looking for a teaching job at an elementary school. Also, what counties have the best schools and job openings for next school year? Thank you!!

Bhuck,

Congrats on the upcoming move to East TN. I think and hope you'll find it to your liking. If you're going to be working in Sevierville, but want a "younger" feel, you may need to look back towards Knoxville. Knoxville commute isn't bad at all, using Chapman Highway. There are parts of South Knoxville and downtown that are younger on the demographical chart, I suggest browsing some of the zip codes on the City Data Knoxville info page and look at the demo ages, as well as for Sevierville. As far as too far of a commute, what are you used to? It definitely wouldn't be a 10 minute drive to work, but it is relatively short and easy. Sevierville is a nice area, but slightly more rural in parts, and not as much to do socially for the 20-35 demographic. Seymour is a nice area, which would basically put you in the middle of the two. For your price range, finding accomodations shouldn't be too hard for you.

Hey bhuck3o, congrats on your possibly moving here, and agree with Williamsold, and in addition, you may want to check out the Wears Valley area, sort of country and very scenic, and even if you go as far as Townsend area, only about 18 to 20 miles, into Sevierville. On the other side of Gatlinburg, towards Cosby, several places, will meet your thoughts, and put you about 30 to 40 minutes out. When leaving Sevierville, you can also look towards the Newport and Dandridge area, again some 40 minutes out, with lots of choices to choose from.
