My husband and I recently moved to Maryville and I am on the lookout for several things...

1) a great salon, in either Maryville or Knoxville, where they do blondes extremely well and that provides good pedicures and waxing. I have used Bumble and Bumble and Aveda salons in the past and loved them but I am ready to try anything new and great!

2)a dance studio/academy with lessons, swing, ballroom and salsa.

3)a volleyball league

4)trendy retail boutiques

5)a cooking club

I would love any recommendations you all have to give me and even though I live in the Maryville area, I am not at all opposed to driving into Knoxville.

There are lots of boutiques... I just don't know Maryville that well... you can google Repeat Boutique and Sally's Alley (both Knoxville) to see what you think. Market Square has one too.

In Maryville there are
Van Metre School of Dance - Van Metre School of Dance - 982-8463
Appalachian Ballet Company - Appalachian Ballet Company - 982-8463
Artistic Dance Unlimited - ADU: Artistic Dance Unlimited - 982-1993

Internet searches can help you find everything, but I know you are wanting personal recommendations.... good luck in your new home and on your search!

I have just moved to Knoxville, so I don't know much about Maryville. However, I have been trying to find a cooking club myself. Maybe we could start one?

Welcome to the forum and Maryville. I have lived here for 6.5 years. I have written some responses to your questions below.

I would suggest Knoxville; tons of options there.

2)a dance studio/academy with lessons, swing, ballroom and salsa. NJ mentioned the dance studios; however, for adult dancing I would suggest Knoxville

3)a volleyball league Try Maryville Parks and Rec; I do not know of any volleyball leagues

4)trendy retail boutiques Turkey Creek or Bearden

5)a cooking club I don't know of any cooking clubs but there are a lot of Sunday school classes that do progressive dinners.

I would love any recommendations you all have to give me and even though I live in the Maryville area, I am not at all opposed to driving into Knoxville.

Don't know of any cooking clubs but I'm sure there are some around.
Glass Bazaar in Knoxville has some fabulous cooking classes. You can probably meet like minded people in one of those.
Glass Bazaar - Calendar (http://www.glassbazaar.com/calendar/ - broken link)
UT offers cooking and wine classes in its non-credit programs.

Another good way to meet people.
Slow Food Knoxville is/was a the closest thing I've seen to a cooking club. The website seems to have disappeared so not sure what's going on. There's a contact phone number in this news story.
