I am driving from Kentucky through Knoxville to Chattanooga. Is there a way around Knoxville's road construction and not sit in traffic? Thanks!!!!

If you're referring to the closing of I-40 through downtown Knoxville, it's finished and has been reopened for several weeks now.

However, coming from Kentucky you wouldn't have gone through downtown Knoxville on I-40 anyway (assuming you're coming down I-75).

I'm not aware of any other road construction projects in Knoxville that would create a lot of traffic.

I think Knoxville has been in such a perpetual state of construction for decades, that people automatically try to route around it. But yep, like JMT said, it should be smooth sailing through Knoxville right now, especially on 75.

Check TDOT's Smartways map before you leave, but there shouldn't be any problems.
TDOT SmartWay - Tennessee Department of Transportation-
There was a lane closure on I-75 near Powell the other night, but that was just to paint lines.

You could pass a wreck which holds up traffic, but it should be fine. Best to time your trip so you aren't on I-40 W during rush hour, especially not going with the commuter flow.

No plans for any construction, and be mindful of the speed limit, as lots of enforcement , seen tons of motorcycle and radar traps, all up and down the by-pass, and 40-75, all down to Wyatt rd.

I lived in Knoxville for 18 months and never once saw traffic problems on the interstate. Sure it would get slow. But never the kind of stop and go for miles on end stuff like I see here in Dallas regularly. And I talked to a guy that just moved from California yesterday and he was telling me how easy we have it in Dallas when it comes to traffic....
