I know this may sound like a silly thread. But my wife and myself are from Ohio, home to Kroger Co. We always grew up around Kroger stores and just wanted to know which Kroger in the Knoxville and surrounding areas was the nicest/largest selection etc....

My guess is:
Kroger
9161 Middlebrook Pike
Knoxville, TN 37923-1438

Any input on this one?

Thanks!

P.S. Please do not try to read into previous posts to figure out why we are asking this. Thanks

They built a new Super Store here, I think it's on Northshore off of Pellissippi. I haven't been but people keep telling me about it. It's more like a Meijer than a typical Kroger.

I'm impressed by the new one near Campbell Station and Kingston Pike.

The newest Kroger in Knoxville just opened this week on Broadway in Fountain City (just north of I-640). It's beautiful.

It is. I'm the queen of grocery stores and even I was stunned. It is gorgeous. And it has much more in it than just food.

Kind of sad, but going to the new Kroger in Fountain City was the highlight of our weekend. The kids started screaming as I pulled into the parking lot, "Mommy, they have car carts!" We hadn't seen a grocery cart that looked like a car since we moved here. The store is huge and has a great selection. If only the store had a Starbucks like our Kroger in Kentucky!

I agree and how funny! I was desperately looking around for a Starbucks, too. I ended up taking one of their cold drinks out of the fridge in the coffee section. We need some hot coffee!

Myself I don't care for the supersize Krogerism. All the aisles of extraneous stuff irk me. Its bad enough at the S Knox Krogers, the Western Plaza one just makes me mad. I want food, not decorations and lawn furniture. Grrr. Sometimes I shop at the Fellini Kroger because it is compact.

Needless to say my life has become calmer since I started trying to limit shopping expeditions to once a month. Supplemented by forays to the fruit stands and food co-op.

So I should avoid the Ft City edifice??? Or go one time as a tourist expedition? What makes it so nice?

Oh I love my Fellini Kroger! I live just a few blocks from it so it's where I do the bulk of my shopping. The first time I took my elderly parents there, they didn't quite know what to think. It was like being in a parallel universe; it looked like Kroger (albeit stuck in an early 80s time warp) but for some reason it wasn't like any other Kroger. It's probably the only grocery store in all of East Tennessee where you can find drag queens, bearded ladies, aging hippies, college students, soccer moms, Section 8 kids, migrant workers, and Monty Python's silly walkers all at the same place.
