I got some decent ones on the west side this time playing with my new Nikon D3100! I don't know how I lived this long just using point & shoots. A chimp could take National Geo quality pictures with the options available on a decent DSLR.

The photo turned out great! Thanks again guys! With all your support I decided to spring for a pricey editing program, here's a few photos so far. Still getting the hang of it! (Las Cruces)

Went hiking Wednesday on the Pine Tree Trail, east side of the Organs. We had never hiked there before. The snow made it slow going but also beautiful and quiet. We drove from Albuquerque and were surprised by the amount of snow that was still on the ground from Belen to Las Cruces after last week's storm!

Default Haze?

Thanks to everyone for sharing their beautiful shots

...one thing I noticed is that it appears in many pics to be a haze over everything...is this dust haze? pollution haze? or just digital cameras which sometime give you a lot of graininess when blown up?

I find the haze to be more pronounced headed south, towards El Paso. Mostly, I would surmise the haze to be dust haze, but there might be a smaller influence from El Paso/Juarez that is man made.

You do realize that there is quite a bit of distance in those landscapes, and bound to be some haze between the photographer and those far distant mountains. Most places back east, the amount of humidity in the air would cause enough haze that they would barely be visible.
