IF you don't mind my asking, what are the issues up there because I had heard that was a nice place to live and I was considering it.
I've been reading the LC Sun-News about gang activity and generally noisy activity. I've also heard that LCPD doesn't patrol the area that often, either.
I'm more of a quiet neighborhood kind of guy and would deal with the cookie cutter houses in order to get peace and quiet.
Like others have said, the East Mesa is nice (my brother lives in the area) and I would buy a house there if my research supports my needs. In other words, if I find a house that I like, I will be doing my own "patrolling" at all times of the day to get a feel for the neighborhood before I sign papers.
Thank-you all for the suggestions. I am getting closer to the move and frankly scared to death but also quite excited. I will have a sponsor from the base to help also. I am going to fly out, rent a car and see for myself what I like and is doable for me. A realtor mentioned Roadrunner. Is that a street? Thanks
What about Pueblos at Alameda Ranch? I don't know how much you want to spend; I think the houses there are ranging from 350 ,000 and up. They have a pool for each phase. It is at the end of Northrise and just south of 70 and east of Sonoma Ranch Blvd. We are building there right now in phase 1. If any local residents has any opinion positive or negative, I would appreciate hearing it. We think it is very nice but we live in Illinois right now so we are not there to see what it is like after a heavy rain or any other day to day issues that residents there may experience. Is that considered part of the East Mesa area?
Anyway, it is a gated subdivision and has a homeowners association and pretty strict covenants. Being from out of state we felt it was a safe choice and it has beautiful views of the Organs and green space between the backs of the homes so you are not looking from your back patio into someone else's back patio.
Anyway, I do think that with all the building that has been going on that there is a lot to choose from and good deals to be had almost anywhere you decide to look in the whole town.
I forgot to answer your question. Roadrunner is a fairly major street that runs from Northrise on the north side of town near 70 to the south connecting with one of the main roads which I believe is Lohman Ave. Roadrunner goes right past Sonoma Ranch development that several others have mentioned. We did look at some nice condo/townhomes in Sonoma Ranch back in March. We were already in the process of building our home but our builder took us to see some of the condos in the Sonoma Ranch area to give us ideas when we were making some color selections, etc.

Yes, that is a street - both of the apartment complexes that I mentioned earlier are on Roadrunner.
Well, it's official. I'm on my way mid August! Thanks to all for the helpful suggestions. I have it planned to visit next month and start my search.
