I've wrestled with that, but in the end, what are we supposed to do? Tell them they can't come? Alameda owns the property, and per the Bill of Rights, and its several amendments, can do as they please with the property.

Does it sadden me? You bet! But I am not going to change it. The best thing I can do is 'vote with my feet', just as I did almost 5 years ago, leaving New Jersey.

There is sprawl, to be sure, but here the city grows out, not up, to protect views of the mountains (or so I've read.) And there are more people here, and more people means more services needed. So more building has to occur.
