Can anyone tell me what type of channels I can get just using an antenna? We've bought a Vacation condo, but we don't want to get cable and the condo association is quite picky for satellite dishes.
Anyone have any ideas? As well, what we may require.

Thanks.

You can get all of the local Las Vegas stations in High-definition with an antenna. Most modern flatscreen TVs have a built in digital tuner that works with an antenna. I used a pair of rabbit ears one for a few days while waiting to get cable hooked up and got all the local stations in HD except for ABC. It took a few mintues playing with the antenna, but it was just sitting on the floor.

You can get the best result if you get a full-size antenna installed in your attic. If you never plan to pay for cable or satellite it will be worth it to go that route. The picture quality is excellent and you get the major networks (ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX) plus a few random stations playing mostly Spanish programming.

Thanks for the replies. I will go grab an antenna and see what I can find.
I haven't bought a tv yet, and if I buy an older tv, will I need a digital box to get any channels?

Really, I would get cable. At work we used to have cable and I would watch it all day. They have since disconnected our cable and now we have the rabbit ears. I have not even turned the television on since (the other guards do though since they do not have a laptop like me). Frankly, there is not anything worth watching on the air stations.

Thanks LVD.
The problem is that since this is a vacation rental and I'd only be there a few times a year, for a week or so at a time, I'm not sure it would be worthwhile getting cable. Then again, if it's possible to connect cable for the times you are there and have it unhooked when I'm not there that'd be interesting.
Do you know if there is a charge to have it connected and disconnected at various times through out the year.

Satellite would be my first choice as I am subbed currently.
My HOA says I cannot mount the dish to the wall, but has to be put on a tripod.
Issues I have with that is since I won't be around a bunch, would it be best if I take it down everytime I leave? If I keep it up will I need to re-point it everytime I am there? Issues I don't want to deal with.
If I could have mounted the dish on he side of the condo, that would have been my first option.
I'm a satellite lover.
