They recently sold everything...beds, desks, chairs etc. I guess the new owner has no intention on finishing it anytime in the foreseeable future.
the inside of the fountainbleu was just a shell!

I have mixed feelings about echelon. If it were built, that would simply be another high end casino resort we cant absorb. All of the strip operators are working to overcome their debt at the expense of the customer. We don't need Echelon although it is an eyesore, it's also a testament to the irrational exhuberence of our town. In that regard, I find it fitting.

The Pine trees came from the old Budget Suites property owned by Bigelow. The Budget Suites behind the Stardust Casino back then had full grown Pine trees and Palm trees all over the property prior to its demolition for this planned mega resort by Boyd Gaming.

Local officials should have Boyd finish the property or they should find a way to penalized Boyd gaming for this eyesore on the strip. Stardust Casino prior to its demolition was remitting tax payments to the local government and now the property sits there unfinished not generating income for the local government that is equal to the taxes remitted when Stardust was still in operation.

I believe the owner of the Union Plaza Downtown purchased the furniture for a fraction of the original cost.

So you would rather have Boyd Gaming borrow money and increase their debt load to finish the Echelon and risk the possibility of them going under and adding another 12,000 to the unemployment line here in NV. You can criticize their upper management all you want but it’s pretty smart in my book to halt a project that has no current market demand or in the near future. I never heard anybody complaining about the El Rancho being an eyesore while it sit abandon for four years before they tore it down.

They are putting offers in other properties, where are they getting the funds for the offer? If you think there is no demand then why put an offer on another property? They have intentions of purchasing other properties so what is keeping them from finishing the Echelon. It does not have to be utra exclusive resort, finish it.

Stardust was remitting tax payments to the local government, now it is all gone.

Their putting offers in already established properties with market base intact and cash flow intact. That’s not near as risky when you can get them for a bargain. Opening a new property and fighting for market share is pure madness in our current economic times. Boyd Gaming is the only gaming company that is sustaining profitability while the others are hemorrhaging $ on a daily basis. There is no reason to force them into a project on land that they already own because you don’t approve of it.

You must realise taking over a property does not necessarily equate to profit. It has overhead, debt loads and all other expenses related to a take over of a property.

Boyd needs to finish the Echelon or dispose the property and have a new player come in but GREED is getting in the way.

It can equate to profit if you large enough to consolidate and save $. Offers are not placed on the table without the potential for profit. Forcing Boyd into something is like telling MGM/Mirage that they need to update Circus Circus because its run down and needs renovation.
