Hi All - I am looking to buy a vacation home in Las Vegas, currently in the inital phases. I am considering the Sky and Panorama Towers. My question is can you walk from Panorama to the strip (any access?), or due to the major highway do you have to take a cab?

I have google earthed this and still cannot figure it out.

Thanks in advance

You can walk directly into City Center across the freeway on the Harmon overpass. It is not a pleasant stroll by any means but it isn't too far. It probably takes 15 minutes from your apartment door to the Aria lobby.

The most annoying part is that once you are in City Center to get into Aria you have to walk across a large swath of pavement that doesn't have a pedestrian walkway.

You can walk from Panorama Towers to the Strip, I've done it. You have to take this gate behind the pool, and walk on the sidewalk along the highway.

I live in Sky which is on the northern end of the strip. This part is less developed & has a lot of stalled construction. Its more convenient for me since I don't have a car, but the area is a lot shabbier. There are several hobos around the building nearly around the clock.

My advise would be to keep an eye on both towers (and the new 'The Martin' next to Panorama) and just grab the best deal that pops up. A realtor could get you into the units to see what the inside looks like.

Probably can be done. You probably don't want to.

Thanks for the quick replies, I am flying out first of April and intended to cross a few off the list if they didnt fit my needs. I do not plan on having a car. Just a cab from the airport and then hoof it, or take a cab to certian events.

I like the prices at Panorama better, but like the Sky location more.

Looks like Sky is mostly short sales and I have no idea how difficult or how long it would take to buy one.

I find that many people on this forum are irrationally afraid of crime, and wouldn't walk anywhere in this town that wasn't a gated community.

I don't think you will need to carry a gun to make the trip safely.

The only people you are likely to encounter enroute are other Panorama residents. It is pretty inaccessible to anyone on foot not coming from City Center or Panorama so it is not an area with high foot traffic.

Thanks for the reply, I really was more thinking if I sat around 3-4 hours playing poker and have a few drinks the last thing I want is to drive somewhere, so a cab or walking was my choices.

and if I have to carry a gun, I may have to rethink this whole ordeal.

I said you do not need to carry a gun.

If, however, you have a lifelong unfulfilled ambition to shoot someone, then I guess you should always carry a gun cause you never know when you will get the opportunity to do so in "self defense".

If you play poker for any significant stakes then get a box at Aria.

Literally 10 steps out the front door of Sky you can catch the Deuce bus which comes by every 7 minutes, a little less late at night. Very convenient, safe, & drops you off at the front of all the casinos. I moved into Sky before the huge construction projects were halted. (Oh, it would be a great place by now, but also way more expensive.) At the time I chose it over Panorama because of the accessability-there was no walkway at the time from The Strip to Panorama, though it sounds like a miserable walk now anyway.
