I did not know this.

Im 30 years old and I can very much relate to what you said. I appreciate the old historic places but if I am spending good money I want latest and greatest(modern/chic). If I want ancient/historic I would go back to Italy.

The only thing that bugs me about the new casinos is when family and friends come to town to visit. They always ask me "Whats the theme of this casino?".

I used to tell people they were all decorated in "Early Al Capone" style.

The 'Theme' is to extract as much money out of you as possible,
wait that may not be the theme, that may be the purpose.

I kinda like non-themed casinos, but the gawdy/flashy kind of casinos, such as Flamingo & Harrahs LOL

Maybe it's because I grew up in Philly and now work there, but the whole modern thing is just so.. typical. Nothing exciting about it at all.

I agree. I like "cheesy" Vegas. If I want City Center, I will go to NY. I love the NYNY, probably one of my favorite places, to stay and play. One of my other faves is Flamingo. Love the coconut smell, the location and the pool!

I "get" the over-the-top modern, classy thing, but I don't care for it much. And WTH is with the canoe structure? They call that art? Or the giant typewriter eraser? Just weird to me. Guess I am not artsy enough!

I personally enjoy themed resorts more than the "urban" feel. Every major city has some sort of hotel similar to a Cosmo or City center in design and feel, so to me why would I fly across the country to stay in something a car ride away?

For Vegas as a hospitality market though, it's good there are diverse offerings. You have your non-gaming properties, family friendly, budget, high-end and everything in between. It will be interesting to see the next wave of building if it happens 10 years from now... will it be urban similar to a New York City or Chicago? Or will new types of themes emerge.

Also I consider some properties to be very "strong" on themes such as NY-NY, Paris, Luxor, Excalibur, Circus, TI, Venetian and Bellagio. While others such as Mandalay Bay, MGM, Flamingo and Mirage. Give you a taste of the theme but don't have constant reminders in the decor and outlets.

I'm thankful there are still plenty of choices so when I make my 4th trip out there, I will still enjoy a different experience than the trips before.

I still LOVE the suggestion (someone but I can't remember who? Dyni?) wrote here about building a Titanic Hotel/Casino and have it slanting into the Bellagio Fountain! How awesome would that be??!!!

You are right! I know Vegas wants the spenders/gamblers, but there are people who would come to check out the places that are so different from others. IMO, some of the skyscrapers just are not that different. That hoity-toity stuff can be put in any hotel, anywhere.

Def agree with this.
You could make the PRINGLES RESORT where everything smells like pringles, and yet, make it elegant and classy to appeal to the rich big spenders

MMM and I would get thrown out for eating their wall.

Anywho, with City Center and Cosmo being the new kids in town.. I just hope the next.. if not, the next after next, 'big' resort to hit Vegas is something themed again.

I want something made after "space" or a planet.. lol, but that's me and my weirdness.. but, with the way they build these resorts today.. I think a space looking resort would be so bad ass!!

THE LAS VEGAS MOON RESORT, PLEASE

Can someone loan me few million, and could others invest a few million? Thanks!

Yeah, a space one or a futuristic one would be cool!
