Thanks for being so honest. This was exactly my point when I said that younger people are not into gambling. The type of gambling that young people, such as yourself, do will not keep the casinos afloat when us old gamblers die off.

I'm with your father-in-law! My feeling is why blow $300 on a night that many of them do not even remember when I could possibly turn that into a grand!

Thats why they have professional photographers in the lounges/clubs to help us remember.

Majority of my friends, co-workers and family which are all close to my age(25-43) all feel the same way. We may play the occasional blackjack or roulette. But thats about 30 mins tops. Then we are on to the next thing to do or see.

On the flip side....

My father-in-law(63) does get a kick out of gambling no matter what it is. Sports betting, slots, tables...EVERYTHING. I can drop him off at ANY casino and he can be there ALL day. When I call to ask if he is ready for me to pick him up, he always responds "Dont worry about me, I will call you when Im ready".

He never calls. I just go to pick him up anyway. When he sees me, he feels like I am rushing him. Even at 2am.

It's all about "getting lucky." You'll spend $300 trying to get lucky in one way...I'll spend it trying to get lucky in different way.

I think it is just an age thing and not a generation thing. The 70 year olds at the slot machines today probably weren't interested in spending hours and hours gambling when they were 25 or 30 with a full time job and kids.
I bet younger people today will be in the casinos after they are getting Medicare benefits if they have nothing else better to do with their time.

Very much spot on von (tried to rep you)

I see this firsthand every time we go out, granted we mainly go to off-strip properties like Orleans where we were last night but even then the situation is the same.

Younger crowd (20's) wants to go clubbing, not so much into gambling so they will go to the pool clubs during the day or go shopping and then during the night go clubbing. Don't see them at the tables or slots much. Exception will be those who are into serious poker.

Older crowd (30's-50's) like myself and wife don't care for clubs (been there done that) so we bounce between slots and tables. 2 weeks ago, I took $500 on slots from Orleans then last night noticed that they were tight so we played Pai Gow which netted me $200.

Since we don't care for clubs, we go to dinner or a movie as date night which was the case as we saw Horrible Bosses (with only 6 other people)

Then there is the much older crowd (60's+) like my 80-year old mother who will stay at 3-card poker all day and night if she's winning and will go to slots only if not winning. A lot of this crowd hangs in the sports book betting on horse races (something the 20's crowd hardly does).

Horse race betting is something I would like to get into. Just have not had the time to learn how it goes.

Horses are about as dependable as a C-5 Galaxy.

This makes sense to me.

Clubbing is great if you are single and 'in your groove'.

But, when younger guys and younger girls turn into old men and old women...they're basically in the wrong place to be clubbing.

Also, as people get hitched and have kids...going clubbing to meet others is not something the spouse allows the other to do...where play a little cards is in the acceptable range.

If you make to to the upper ages I say spend it all. You worked hard all your life at a job you probably hated so take that money to the slots and have fun. For the younger crowd especially the women flaunt it if you got it because at some point your going to become invisible. Hey that's life..
