I had a idea for a "theme" restaurant called "The Space Platform"
Problem is, to do it right would be a several million dollar investment.

I think you meant multi trillion dollar investment.

This guy has done a ton of ground work concerning the principals of building the elevator to your platform though.

about 12 years ago there was a pub downtown off of Bonnevillenand Las Vegas Boulevard called Mad Dog and Englishmans. It was as close to authentic as Vegas gets.I remember they used to have a Jimi Hendrix Experience cover band there on Thursday nights. That place was where I first tasted Boddingtons. It's a shame it's gone.

Chick-Fil-A. Nothing else close. I have to make another driving trip back to Chicago & you can bet I'll be targeting a couple Chick-Fil-A stops along the way.

Still haven't heard a good reason for not having Chick-Fil-A here - yeah, I know their religious underpinnings don't mesh with Las Vegas & there would probably be a backlash to being closed on Sunday. Beyond that, I'd think they would do well here - everything on the menu's great, killer lemonade, awesome waffle fries (I'm not normally a fry guy) & high quality chicken.

Further down the list, an Ikea would be nice. Charlie's Chicken (http://www.charlieschicken.com/ - broken link) has some amazing comfort food, tho almost nobody's heard of them. (Small chain in Oklahoma - only 5 of them, I think.) Their chicken chunks (big hunks of white meat) are awesome & they have very affordable chicken-fried steak & the like.

Death by delicious, greasy, high-caloric means sounds spectacular!

Can't help you with downtown, but we do have a decent British pub here that I've been to several times. What I especially like is that you can eat lunch for free - including a draft ale - if you put $20 in the VP or BJ machine. Here's the link:

Las Vegas British Pub | Crown & Anchor

And here's a link to the menu:

What is good at Chick Fil A?

I worked next to one for years and only ate there occasionally due to peer pressure. Chick Fil A is to chicken places what McDonalds is to hamburger places. If there is some secret menu item I never found please elaborate and I will give it a shot next time I'm visiting family.

SWEET! First, I love these type of threads. Though, half my answers have been taken, i.e, IKEA (including the swedish meatballs they serve in the restaurant section) Crate & Barrel, White Castle etc......

I've found the opposite. Since I've moved FROM Vegas to Seattle, I am missing stuff Vegas has that we now don't (Carrabas, Lindo Michocan, Ricardos, Chevy's, Mimi's Cafe) . I can name like 15 restaurants off the top of my head and I am fully planning next year to spend a week JUST eating my way through Vegas when we go back to visit family.

That said......I used to wish Vegas had a Roscoe's House of Chicken n' Waffles, and ANY type of Smorgasbord. I was mad when they closed down the Alpine Village in the early 90s, so maybe bring that back.
