to rent from the owner, should one just get the local paper; in SC we have the "iwanna" a weekly classified paper that's better for real estate than the standard paper........... Does Vegas have something similar? What is it called?

The problem with any publication is that by the time it gets published the property may have already been rented.

I would suggest Craigslist.org. Not only can you see postings from owners who have property for rent, but you can post that you are seeking a rental property as well.

I found a tenant for my Henderson home by posting on Craigslist. And best of all...it's FREE!

Craigs list is really the best way to go out here. That is how we found our first house which we rented and also the one we ended up buying.

ditto...i did all my rental searching thru craigslist.

just sit there w/ google maps or live maps open to verify addresses and check out areal views of the property, neighborhood, etc. live maps is awesome for that as it lets you do a birds eye view allowing you to see it from multiple angles (often the angles were shot on different days, so you get a better idea of the location). but google maps has streetview of much of LV, so i suggest using both.

No offense guys but Craig's list is blind man's bluff. It simply lacks the search capability of even such primitive places as Realtor.com.

For condos and sfrs buyers the MLS is far and away the best tool. The apartment guides for Apartments. Craig has lesser listings and no structure to find what you are after. For low end neighborhoods the only way is to drive around...signs are it.

Craig's may be a good deal for a seller...don't have to pay anybody...then again if your place sits vacant an extra month?

Pays your money and takes your choice.
