Lawsuits over plumbing fixtures keep springing up - VEGAS INC

When I was installing my Jacuzzi, I did notice that the copper pipe did have a lot of white scale.

Anyone else having problems like bad water pressure?

Jonathan

No. No problems like that here. Here's why.

I have a relative who had to spend tens of thousands to rip out all the copper pipe in his house because it was clogged harder than a Heart Attack Grill patron's arteries.

We installed a whole-house reverse osmosis system. One of the good ones. There is zero calcium (or much of anything else) flowing through our pipes. Worth every penny just for the piece of mind.

Whole house reverse osmosis.

Pros: Good water from every tap in the house. Increased lifespan (like 10x increase) of water heaters, dishwashers, washing machines and the like. No worry about mineral deposits in pipes. No bottled water costs. Coffee, tea, and ice cubes in your scotch taste better. NO EFFING URANIUM, RADIUM, THORIUM, CESIUM, CURIUM and other cancerous agents in your damned water. Brush your teeth without fear of cancer.

Cons: Big up-front price tag. Water temperature is whatever it happens to be in the big central collection tank. (In our case, the garage. In the summer, our water is 95f all the time. In the winter, it's 45f.) Recurring membrane charges, roughly $200 per year.

The standard solution is a water softener. Why can't you use one? YOu can go to whole house osmosis but that is expensive and wastes a lot of water. And note you have to treat the water after osmosis...

This is almost diabolically scarey.

There are people in Sun City who had their copper replaced with Kitec. Then the Kitec was replaced with Wizbro...now...

It begins to look like only copper...done correctly...works with this water.

A water softener is not the same as a water purifier. A softener is not going to get the radioactive materials out of your water. Only purification will. Yes, it wastes a lot of water. But my bill is around $20 per month. (Except when my irrigation system fails, as I've reported numerous times.)

I have a total dissolved solids meter that I use to test my osmosis system. My water is below 10 parts per million. If it goes above that, I get the membranes changed. My mother in law (who believes in softening) is over 400. And I have run a geiger counter over both. It doesn't register at all with my water. It registers a little with untreated tap water. I'm not comfortable with "a little."

I do not have to treat my water post osmosis.
It's basically pure water. There is nothing to "soften."

EDIT -- My water tastes great. My mother in law's water tastes like crap. I won't even drink it. I bring my own over when I visit her. Relatives come over to fill their 5-gallon jugs at my house. Reason number 2 as far as I'm concerned. Reason number 1 is the geiger counter thing.

I live in the part of Summerlin who's entire house needed to be replumbed.

My house was invaded for a week. Dust everywhere. Couldn't leave..... but it was all free, so that's a plus

I can't help you with the water spots on the shower door, but I can definitely help you with the water spots on your dishes:

Lemon Shine

You can get it at Walmart or any other store, really. It's awesome.

What the geek is telling you is that you may have to do it again! And the only thing I can think of to put in is copper. And putting copper in an existing house is a whole lot more difficult and costly than plastic pipe. It ain't flexible and has joints.
