Random thought came up. I had to ask. What's it like to be from Las Vegas? I can count on one hand the number of people I've met from Vegas. What kinds of questions come up after you have told someone your from Vegas? Do they have stereotypical ideas?

They are cool, laid back, get bored easily, mind their own business, always busy, more mature, don't get offended over silly stuff type people. At least the people in my my family are pretty much like this.

My wife is from Nevada(Elko) and she fits the description also.

I think it's changed since the city has grown and gambling has spread nationwide.

Used to be people would always say "Oh wow that must be really exciting to live there, I didn't know real people lived there, thought it was all Casinos."

I've never worked at a Casino and don't gamble though. :P

Some of the stereotypes from newcomers on these boards for example. For some reason they think we're all really stupid meth babies :P

Local get's no respect. If it's not that Californians telling us how much better CAlifornia is and not getting their cars registered, it's people from the East coast saying "We really need one of those corner drug stores that sells hot dogs like they have in Philly"

I enjoy it though. It's neat meeting people from all over the place. Makes this city a bit of a melting bot in my opinion. Don't really know what it's like to live in other cities though so I have a rather narrow view. Other than the Army which is not really the same.

When I was in the service they used to ask silly questions like "do you know any of the Mafia people there?"

The one I've heard the most is, "Yeah, but it's cold at night isn't it"? My reply is that yes it sometimes drops below 100º at night.

Another one I like is, "You get a lot of stars 'n stuff 'ere don'tcha?"

In foreign countries I get people expecting large tips.
