We're planning a trip to Vegas and want to know what sites we should definitely see while walking along The Strip. What do you recommend and why? Thanks!

Now, I have not been back to Vegas since 09 so if any of this is changed/closed, someone here can chime in:

Bill's (across from Ceasars Palace) has the best margarita's for 99 cents. They are frozen and they are good....

The Bellagio fountains. You can walk, get there a little early, for a front
good view. I believe it goes every hour/or possibly every 1/2 hour. On very windy days, they have not done the water show, and told us it would not run with high winds.

The Forum Shoppes at Ceasars. Very beautiful, but I could never afford much in there but it's a spectacular sight.

MGM shops (not sure if they still have the mall or if it changed but it was huge). There were alot of shops in there...

All of the above is walkable and there is tons more to see if you are on foot. I personally used to enjoy the walking/over the driving/ because you can take in so much more. And the charactors on the strip are pretty funny.

The only drag was: Those people that handed out those adult flyers, practically slapped them in your hand. Not sure if they are still there but they were annoying.

We enjoyed the volcano at Mirage and the Sirens show at Treasure Island last year. Not what i would consider "don't miss" but good free evening entertainment.

Everything is a must see! Bellagio's fountains...and the inside of the lobby and casino!

MGM is HUGE...takes a while to navigate and explore!

The "Siren" show (used to be a pirate show) across from the Venitian....and yes...you need to go thru that hotel, as well!

Caesar's Palace is also huge....took us 2 tries to get out! Kept going in circles!

You need to stop and gamble for a while somewhere....even if it's only nickel slots! Take a twenty and risk it!

Do yourself a favor and get an up-to-date guidebook....that way, you'll know everything that's there, and you can plan your time according to what's important to you. You can literally spend days and days just walking about, window shopping, eating, etc...on the strip itself! Then, you can rent a car and head to Red Rock Canyon, or Hoover Dam, or Death Valley...or many other sites!

Get a guidebook and read it....make your plans to suit YOU!

Consider buying a 1 day ($7) or 3 day ($20) pass to ride the double decker Duece Bus. This bus will take you up and down the strip as well as to Freemont Street Old Vegas and back. The Duece will really cut down on your walking and allow you to see more Casino stuff as it lets you off in front of many of the Strip Casinos. The passes are not available on the bus you must buy them from Kiosks in front of MGM Grand, Slots of Fun Casino, Las Vegas Convention Center, and the South Strip Terminal which is South of Mandalay Bay Casino. Good for any Duece Bus in any direction. Ask for a RTC Pocket Guide on the bus which will tell you the different routes or go to www.rtcsouthernnevada.com
Just a thought.

I think its worth getting a car and venturing into the burbs to see how people in LV live. Even though its the same as your suburbia, you might get a kick out of it. And the strip looks cool from a distance. There is also Red Rock and Mt Charleston. If youre a gambler the outlying casinos have cheaper minimums, and sometimes, better food.

Is the Duece bus the one with the open top? I have seen some with an open top and some without.

I wanted to ride one but never got around to it. I will one day soon.

First of all, do you mean "sights" or "sites", or both? Also, when will you be here, how long will you be here, where are you staying, and are you in very good shape? The Strip is slightly over four miles long, so "walking" it would be almost nine miles R/T, IF you don't go into any hotels. That could add a mile or two (or more) per hotel. And if it's in July or August, you might die.

I agree the fountains are a must. See them in the daytime and at night both. I also really enjoyed the MGM lions. And yes, the Forum Shops at Caesars are gorgeous. All of Caesars was just beautiful.

People watching is also good!

I recommend the Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art and the Centaur Art Gallery in the Fashion Show mall. (Centaur is often just as nice as a visit to the Bellagio, and free to look. It's not like anyone can afford what Centaur has for sale. Nobody impulse buys a Rembrandt.)

Unless you don't like art, of course.
