I remember The Glass Pool. It was the first sight I ever noticed driving into town as a kid. It was the first bar I ever heard Karaoke at, in my late teens (sneaked in).

They used to have a pseudo- Polar Bear club there. A James Bond flick pictured that pool.

When it was scheduled to be closed, I meant to schedule a weekend there.
I meant to see Siegfried and Roy, I meant to do a lot of things.

These icons go away. Take your opportunities while you still can.

I don't remember it. My first visit to Las Vegas was in 1984. I came here with a boyfriend and his parents. We stayed at The Mint.
I also never saw Siegfried and Roy.

Yup! Sure do.

It seems like all of the old motels at the southern end of the Strip are gone now. I don't know why, they didn't seem like much, but there was just something so interesting about them. A sign of the ways things once were long ago.

Wasn't there some preservation effort concerning the glass pool?

I agree with you. I put off seeing so many of the big stars perform because we thought they'd live forever I guess. I did see Siegfried and Roy though. And even though I didn't see a lot of stars perform on stage, I was fortunate enough to have done television production here in the entertainment capital, so worked with most of them at one time or other. The one thing I'm sorry about is that I wasn't in to having my picture taken with stars, so I only have a few. It would be nice to have some to jog my memory.

It was closed in 2003 and demolished in 2004. I remember seeing it a few times when I moved out here in 2003.

I remember they used to take photo shoots of models out there, they would be featured in Gaming Today or whaatever that weekly paper was called back then. Some of the girls made you think this is why men like living in Vegas while others made you think that girl probably made a few men leave Vegas.

I remember an old motel on Las Vegas blvd we stayed in with our kids more than once. it wasn't far from the airport and our all time favorite Motel, was the Lucerne. Don't ask me why, we just liked the place. Of course, as years went by, we moved up in the world and changed from motels to the Dunes, that was the place my kids absolutely loved. They felt like they were kings and queens. When our son was about 14 he played golf just in front of Telly Savalas. Telly was wearing a speedo and his golf shoes..It cracked our son up.

The star we never saw was Elvis.I think we saw most of the others. We did see SandRoy. In fact we paid $15 for the dinner show, and I think it included 2 drinks, but I am not sure. The dinner was not in the showroom, but the coffee shop after the show.
