Hello all,
My girlfriends car broke down last night and we don't know a lot of people here in Las Vegas and I have to work tomorrow and she doesn't have a way to work. The bus system doesn't run out to where she works so I was looking for a similar service to the Super Shuttle that is here in Las Vegas. Basically some shuttle service for local people that is cheaper than a taxi. Does anyone have any suggestions. All I can seem to find when I google is the typical Limo / Airport shuttles. Any shuttle services for getting around town?

I would tell your GF to call a coworker and ask for a ride to / from work in return for gas money until she can get her car fixed.

To the best of my knowledge, outside of the bus system, there are no shuttle services except to and from the airport / casinos. I could be wrong, and I hope someone with more knowledge will chime in.

Sure there is!

If you live in Sun City Anthem, Sun City Summerlin, or Centennial Hills, the RTC has a door-to-door "taxi" type shuttle service for 50 cents. The distance they will take you is a limited radius.

There are also 13 "Silver Star" shuttle routes - they have designated routes that usually go in a big (1-2 mile) square. Although it's meant for seniors, anyone can ride. It's also 50 cents.

More info on both services here:

To bad there isn't one. Someone could probably make a ton of money doing it here since our city is so spread out and the public bus system isn't that spectacular. Oh well THX for the replies.

Unfortunately you have hit on one of the little private Nevada thingies.

The cab and limo business here is so tied up in the old boy network that it is virtually impossible to run such a service. Basically the existing companies have to agree that they need new competition to allow one to start up.

There are a couple of people who provide rides to doctors and such in places like Sun City...but they exist on sufferance and would vanish instantly if they placed a wide spread ad.

NV is very libertarian...except when it comes to things that make money. Then it is the old gang on the plantation.
