I can't believe I got myself into this. I am stuck living in a 4br house with a pool in Green Valley with like a $300 a month mortgage payment. With my taxes and insurance I'm up to almost $500 a month. Of course I'm putting $500 a side a month for improvements and maintenance so that takes to $1000. Then I kick in an extra $200 a month to pay the dang place off in 8 years which takes me to $1200 a month. I just realized I'm gonna be stuck with this paid off mess when my son finishes high school and now am thinking I would have been better off renting the house down the street for $1350 with no pool and a 2 car garage instead of the 3 car garage. Who needs and would dumb enough to pay less for a pool and extra garage space in Las Vegas anyway?

So you think it's smarter to toss $1350 a month into a bottomless pit than to put $1200 into a home that will have at least some returnable value when you sell it?

I don't get it. Or am I in the middle of a sarcasm thread and missed it? If so it's a good one.

i am still trying to figure out why you need 500 a month in maintenance? what ever happened to the 1% rule?
