Hit five guys the other night. Lake Mead at Tenaya.

The Boss thought it marginal. I thought it pretty good. Old time cheap midwestern hamburgers with all the junk on them assemble in what I presuem is the name sake assembly line. I thought the french fries were very good. Dark crust mushy interior...the midwestern way. Not up to Mon Ami Gabi but better than InandOut. My chief holds out for smash burgers which I have not yet tried.

I could only handle them about once a month. Saw a staticstic that 5 Guys Fries are about 1500 calories a bag!! They give you plenty, but make you want to walk them off LVOC! Great Food though.

French fries? I hope you don't make a habit of this, at your age diet and exercise are extremely important.
Just a friendly reminder.
Cheers,
ESM

Ah yes...you have finally scored. My story is no more than every two weeks. But two of the four regular MDs have made unkind remarks about my waist line in the last two week. One even threatened me.

I never expected to catch up to Dyn...but I am at least 40 lbs in trouble.

That location used to be "Create" a burger. It was great. When the original owner discovered he was under capitalized (especially in face of the recession), he sold it. The new owner managed to screw it up five ways to Tuesday. Unsurprisingly, Create went down shortly after that. ( A former coworker used to play soccer with the original owner)

I hope Five Guys does well. Firehouse, next door, makes pretty good subs.

I've been to Smashburger across the street- once. I've never been handed a plate with that much grease in my life. They smash it on one side in butter. The bun gets utterly soaked in grease. If that's your thing, good for you, but you have Windy City Beefs and Dogs just up the street and they know how to do lunch.

( I'm a total lunch hound and I weigh 110 pounds) *ducks*

You need to hit the hot dog/burger joint in the Lowes Plaza at Jones and Craig. They actually beat Steiners at the Hamburger competition run by one of the radio stations. I can't remember the exact name as it is nondescript and won't stick.

They are actually very, very good in an old midwestern diner sort of way. I only eat hot dogs there which satisfies my hunger and I split the natural french fries with the boss. You can also get a beer which sets it way apart from most hamburger joints. And they stock tomato juice in small cans so the boss can reach b ack to her Canadian roots...yup the really do put tomato juice in beer.

I saw Five Guys featured on a tv show and learned they have an Idaho potato farmer who exclusively grows and sells his potatoes to them. I guess that's the gist of all the potato bags piled thru the middle of the store. Oh, and don't forget the peanuts in a shell before your burger.

The Five Guys on Losee and Craig seems to never be empty, especially during the lunch hour. Nothing but firemen, Nevada Power employes and military uniforms every time.

It definitely is a once a month place to eat. My wife does not like it so maybe a once every two months thing.
