Was it inside or out? You could be seeing silverfish, especially in new construction. If that's what it is they won't hurt you. The picture on this site makes it look dark colored, but the ones' I've always seen around here are more white to almost transparent. Silverfish - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

If what you are seeing has a tail that curves up over it's back and points forward it's a scorpion and yes they bite, and yes it hurts, and yes they are poisonous but seldom fatal.

Scorpions (http://ag.arizona.edu/pubs/insects/az1223/#ARIZONABARKSCORPION - broken link)

The nice thing about Las Vegas is that we don't actually have a huge amount of insects, and none that are worth worrying about very much.

Yes, those little white things are silverfish. They just run around and do whatever silverfish do.
Cats like them. Dogs aren't sure of them. And birds think of eating them. lol
They come in white, transparent, brown and almost black. Ive seen every color in my home at one time or another.

Hmmm...sounds like a group of Illegal Immigrants! They don't bite....but they do use (for free) the services that legal Americans pay for in their taxes!

Glad to see you made it Yes, they are silver fish and if they are in the house you can call an exterminator and get rid of them, not a big deal. How are things so far? Hope you had a good trip.
