Las Vegas doesn't ruin lives...or tempt your children to do something they shouldn't!

LACK of morals/integrity is what lets people succumb to the temptations!

If you are afraid of the temptations for your children or for yourself, it only shows a lack of confidence in their/your upbringing and integrity.

This town doesn't offer anything that can't be found in every other town in the world...it's just more open and honest about it!

...If you can't deal with it, it says more about YOU than the city itself.

This wasn't directed at any ONE person, but to all whom are whining.

See any swimming pool. Loaded with things at least as revealed as the pit dealers.

This whole thing is silly. We are confusing the marketing strategy of our steel mill with the actual behavior of the local population.

The town is mildly puritan. Heavy Catholic and Mormon populations. Not give to wild living.

See Marriage amendment.

A couple of the local kids from Centennial High work in the industry. They are acrobats at Cirque.

The strip pretty much goes with what the clients want...not what the local residents desire. And it had better be that way. A strip driven by the locals would be closer to Disneyland than the existing strip.

It's always the ones that profess moral infallibility and place their integrity beyond reproach who are the biggest sinners. Not to mention the biggest hypocrites.

Very few of us are beyond temptation. Most of us will succumb to a vice if there is sufficient temptation.

There is noting wrong with admitting that you prefer not to tempt yourself. This is honesty at its best.

Although anything can be found everywhere--for a price-- the ease of access to the smorgasbord of vices and temptation in vegas can be overwhelming for many; especially if they think they have the means to engage it.

Las Vegas is a uniquely wonderful place for some, but I could see how it could be glittery Faustian prison for others.

It seems that you locals only worry about money and you don't care how will you come up with the money. That's why you are accepting this new Las Vegas that is nothing like Las Vegas we used to visit. Casinos looking like a cheap strip clubs, young adults drunk and without any sense wondering around, overpriced restaurants, bars and nightclubs Las Vegas has turned out to be a real tourist trap and everyone seems to be looking to depart you with your money. I decide where I will spend my money and Las Vegas wouldn't be a place in the future. Enjoy your 20 and something crowd no wonder all Casino workers are getting replaced with young girls. Pretty soon your job will be next.

We used to play slot machines or table games and being next to mature individuals not drunk young adults who are very loud and out of control.
remember Mutual, MOST [not ALL but most] of those halfnaked girls came from YOUR home town and hometowns LIKE yours.......

my bad. good correction.

i should have wrote that the g-string and pasty only covers about 85% of the body...likely less.

i agree, mildly puritan with a healthy dose of hucksters, charlatans, and fraudsters tossed in.

and some are actually all of the above!

I have a question for the LDS among us. Does it contravene your religion to work certain jobs in a casino?

I asked my boss that same question at dinner one night....He was VERY highly placed in the Morman chruch being directly descended from the originals that came here in the wagons from back east.

He was at the tie, the President of the Golden nugget Atlantic city, Former Chairman of the Nevada Gaming control Board and later Head of the Gaming Technilogy Department at UNLV.

I Asked "SH#$$%^ How do you as a STRONG Member of the LDS Church, justify your position in Casino Gaming?"

His answer....and a DIRECT QUOTE...."The Book of Mormon say that WE can not gamble....but it doesnt say we can't profit from those that do."

I omitted his name because he died a few years ago but thos that KNOW Nevada will know who he is

THATS up to the hometownies to decide.....its just that WE as Las Vegans did not create them so it behoves the hometownies to look to themselves.

One might suggest it is the more rational of the lovely women who make their way to Las Vegas. A number of these professions have far less stigma, better acceptance and pay better than at home. Why be put down by the locals when you can make a nice living in Las Vegas?

Note also that many of the "entertainers" don't even live here. Ever been on SW on Friday coming from LA?

I have. I even saw a SW stewardess lose it and tell a guy to shut the eff up after he had too many drinks.

Parts of the strip have turned into party central for the youngsters (not the local ones so much since they don't care to pay those prices) but there are still plenty of options for everyone.
