Las Vegas has seen friendly to me. Not the most friendly but nothing that says it's unfriendly.

people here are just angry all the time (Florida).... I honestly think most here are broke or living paycheck to paycheck if they have a job (I am in RURAL Florida.. may not apply in the cities - I'm 80 miles away from the closest big city (Tampa).

I'm considering moving back west. I like the country feel so it would be Pahrump or Mesquite. Maybe in 3-5 years. Job not an issue.

If I do this, the requirement would be the house had to be paid in full (no mortgage).

Before moving to Sinless City in 1996, I lived in Phoenix, and there was incredible friendliness in my neighborhood, it was an older historic district with the now-passe big porch areas in the front of house, and the garage in back of the house. No 6 foot cinder-block walls around the back yard. Perhaps that was of help!

I lived in Green briar Townhouse complex for 22 years, and there's just one person I was even semi-close to, and I do not interface with anyone today from Las Vegas, with the exception of co-workers.

Tucson is the friendliest city I've ever lived in, you don't have to be afraid to say Hello to someone on the street, unlike Las Vegas. The current community I live in won't even allow fences or walls in your back or side yard. Las Vegas is he Walled City of this Country, perhaps that helps explain it.

An earthquake in Sinless City that would destroy a number of those walls would be a blessing!

Could also be the lack of parks, or anything that draws neighbors/communties together.

Personally I find the smaller the city/town, the more friendly the people. I think that's a universal truth.

I'd agree. I think you have more personal accountability. You can't hide behind anonymity in a small town.

Mesquite, hands down!

Less wind, nicer casinos, everything is more compact and organized, close to good medical care in St. George, easy drive back to Las Vegas if you need it, closer to Zion and Bryce, the residents in Mesquite seem to have it together compared to Pahrump.

I've personally never liked Pahrump. Was there two years ago and got a really bad impression of the place. It felt windswept and the clientele around town felt like mostly ex-convict and militia types. A lady at the Albertsons said illegal camping/squatting was a huge problem, plus meth and an overall sense of lawlessness since the town is in Nye County and isolated from Tonopah and Las Vegas.

Same here. I was there looking at a 55+ community that is really nice. I liked the homes and the area but then, I'd have to shop and do things in Pahrump. It's not a good looking town and like apple92680 wrote; the clientele/people around town....no thank you.

I thought that too, but it looks like everything is an hoa. I want to buy a piece of land 3/4 - 1 acre and build a 4500sf barndominium. There are some amazing ones. Google realtor.com barndominium.
