I rarely go there unless there is a really good sale because every time I have to wait in a big line, no matter what time I go. The cashier got mad saying she would most likely lose her job. I felt bad as I know how bad it was for me when I lost my job. 4 self checkouts only need 1 cashier, so 3 lose their jobs.
I understand your point. We will just have to adapt as things change. One will just have to find a career that can not be out-sourced overseas or by robots. Cooks, Taxi drivers(for now), most trade jobs...etc.

This below really woke me up regarding the robots. At the end they admit that jobs will be lost, but offer no solution. You are right, we have to adapt, but there will be many left by the wayside.

I wish I could fire my secretary and replace her with a robot.

Here is something interesting I just found:

"The water park has taken more than 20,000 applications for an estimated 300 to 500 seasonal jobs, Wet ’n’ Wild general manager Takuya Ohki said."

So you have a 1 in 40 chance of getting one of these minimum wage jobs.

1. How many of those "20,000" applicants are just fulfilling their unemployment obligation?
2. It sounds like a fun job so I bet every teen in the valley put in an application to work there.
3. It is a water park in the desert so I bet every unemployed adult in the valley put in an application just to beat the heat with a discount and get paid doing it.

I have always liked investigative style reporting. All teens getting ready for college need to watch that video and carefully consider their majorcarefully.

Technology is helping and hurting at the same time.

P.S. That 60 minute clip would cause an uproar in the employment section of this forum.
