Now I know, not everyone that lives in Vegas trashes it... and I'm glad to see that there are plenty that can back up the thought that Las Vegans are uneducated (*high five* to MomMom for that response, btw).

As I look out the window at the snow/sleet coming down... believe me it isn't soon enough that I will be out there in Vegas (this year is going to go by soooo slow!). So to those that hate living in the valley - good. leave. make more room for when I finally move there!

As for the OP on how to meet real people? Search and you will find. I know, sounds cliche', but seriously, you just gotta go out and have a good time. It seems that you are off to a good start. As long as you're a decent person, with somewhat of a brain, I'm sure you'll be fine. Don't limit yourself to bars and nightclubs though.
Thanks davey and good luck with your move!

Let me be the first to congratulate you. Many people will contend the desert is the most interesting of all places. However, in reality, like Yucca Mt, LV was and is considered a wasteland, an appropriate place for the waste of the country to exist, even prosper. I never thought of the citizens of an area becoming what the area provides geographically, but you may be on to something. It makes me wonder how American Indian tribes view the Piutes.

If only you read NSEW's post before you posted. He contends that due to the geographical harshness of the area, people in LV have assimilated into a harsh society. Makes perfect sense to some.

No matter where you live some people don't know what is there. I am starting to find wonderful things about Vegas. I also have found some not so wonderful things. About meeting people, you might find a dumb person, IN ANY CITY ANYWHERE!

Funny a town that can makes millions in hours or minutes, and you talk about dumb people. I would say overall there are probaly more intiligent people in Vegas than in many large cities. However you will not find those people always gambling at the Casino, in the club, bar, ect. If you go to places that the best quality of people don't, then you will not meet them. Vegas is what you make of it, unlike anywhere else you really create your experiance in Vegas!

I don't think the "dumbness" of Nv is in question; it is well documented Nv is the 2nd dumbest state, complete with a 56% graduation rate, and very few careers demanding ANY education at all. Funny you should equate the profits made in THECesspool with intelligence. Let me assure you the corporate financial gains made in LV are miniscule compared to any other metro area. Maybe you haven't noticed, but there are entities that are currently buying and selling LV corporations at will. Funny how, educators, health care professionals, high tech, etc. won't come to LV. They must feel they can't measure up to the high standards of THECesspool.

I kind of get the impression that it's a playboy type scene like Miami, where it's all about who you know and how much money you got. I would be working in a hotel hopefully on or near the strip. I'm 24 years old, white male from the midwest, middle class background.
It's Las Vegas and you're only 24 years old... Why would you want anything else other than blonde's with boob jobs... Worry about the sweet heart MN girl when you're 30-40 years old.. Live life now or when you're 50 you will be the guy back at the club looking for your daughters hot friends.. Well, maybe that's not so bad either if you can still have fun at 50!
