They waited three days to test his urine for radiation (If you know anything about radiation exposure and it's half-life, this makes sense, financially)

He said it was a cat and mouse game between the DOE and the entities (chosen by the govt.) who were there to monitor them.

Nuclear waste is all over the country. They just don't put up a big sign that says "Nuke Waste Here." Everyone here knows the history, and chooses to live with it. At least here, you know what you are getting into. It's not Love Canal.
Can you give an update of where your boyfriend is now? Not that we think the government is behind his disappearance or radiation had an effect.

He is alive and well, and calibrates the radiation that is used in cancer treatments at various facilities, nationwide.

We used to joke that if he ever had kids, they'd look like Blinky from the Simpsons.

The Nevada Test Site, (now called The NV National Security Site) Yucca Mountain, and Area 51 are all part of the area occupied by Nellis AFB. Enormous, and desolate. Having recently made a trek out there I can assure you that if aliens are there, they will find no life forms worth saving. Except the cows.

Area 51 is a three-hour drive from Las Vegas.

One of the most surrealistic things I've ever seen was on a tour of the Test Site when a herd of pronghorn antelopes ran by hoping over and around the many craters left there by underground nuke testing.

Workers that are close to the site are given what is called "rad badges" or radiation badges which will tell you if you have been exposed.

If you are concerned about exposure in Nevada I'm sure you would be able to buy one somewhere.

Workers in X-ray facilities are given the same badges.

You'll get about as much radiation from a visit here as you would turning on your microwave with the door slightly askew. We sent all the radiation downwind.

It seems the reason Las Vegas avoided significant radiation is the prevailing winds blew it in a different direction. Was that planned or was it dumb luck?

THAT is why I don't trust the government.

EDIT -- For instance: This week, Europe has banned the importation of American-grown apples because of a chemical we spray on them. The USDA is willing to let the American people be guinea pigs to see if the diphenylamine growers spray on the apples is harmful or not.

Better start looking for a new planet to live on since both of those elements occur naturally on this one...
