Getting ready to switch my MA plates to NV....

I notice a lot of cars in LV don't have front plates.

I reviewed the DMV site and they say you have to put a front plate on if the manufacturer provides a mounting bracket.

I have seen cars with mounting bracket but no front plates.

Does the police enforce this based on how many donuts they did not eat during the day?

For me, I like the clean look. Easier to wax too.

Four years with no front plate on my car or the wife's. We've each been pulled over, but no mention of the missing front plate.

Did your car have a plate holder?

Mine did, but I removed it. It ruined the lines. (Can't make the argument that it interfered with air flow because it's a mid-engine car.)

Like Scoop, both mine did but I pulled the brackets off. Utah highway patrol actually did ticket me for it once in a speed bump (arm pit) of a town.

Both Nevada and Utah are lax in enforcing license plate requirements. I've been running vehicles in both states for 30 years with no plates on the front and have yet to be ticketed or denied a safety inspection pass.

I have a bracket - it's still wrapped in plastic, sitting in the storage compartment it was in when we bought the car.

Two ways to look at it. By not having a front plate it does give the Police the legal authority to stop you.
Once stopped they can check other things like Insurance, unexpired driver's license, and or sniff to see if you have been drinking etc. Personally, I don't want to give them an opening to stop me.

it's hit and miss in as far as enforcement is concerned. here in the west, we dont have yearly safety inspections, but we do have yearly emissions inspections and they only concern themselves with that.

a front plate citation is merely a fix it ticket if I am not mistaken.... just put it back on and get it signed off.

if you don't have a car that suffers from vanity, like a corvette or other aerodynamically challenged vehicles where a plate would alter the looks, just put the damn thing on.

This is ridiculous, IMO.

Either say you need a front plate, or don't. Too much to keep track of!
