You can also do the telemarketing thing. I don't know of any specific companies but I have heard of people mentioning it. Good luck.
MGM like any major Strip Resort can take awhile to hire you. But I will say if you took the drug test that is the majority of the time a very good sign...they don't drug test people who are not a very strong candidate. Unless you failed the test you should be in. Give them a call and check, after three weeks there is nothing wrong with calling. MGM does have a (sometimes flexible) 6 month policy on transferring jobs...so more than likely you would be in the position for at least the 6 months.

Caltovegas...getting into security at any major Strip resort is not easy, for that matter most positions at Strip Resorts are not easy to get into to. I have seen people with no experience get in to some positions but I have friends in security and 99% of the time you have to have security experience to get in...you then factor in the fees for licenses and certifications and it is not an easy or cheap position just to take for temp work.

I've also talked to people who got in just from an application. I can't remember the casino but the women who cleaned the rooms were paid more than the security guards. The key to Vegas is getting to know someone.

As for temp work get in and whatever department your in take over and help the manager. I can say first hand if you perform you will get offers for positions from the inside. Most people don't want to work or give their all so stand out and make the right person look good and your in the game.
