To suggest that firefighters only respond to fires is like saying cops only respond to shootings.

I believe the biggest call for firemen is medical emergencies. So what?

so instead of whining & complaining about how much public employees make, how about you apply for one of those gov jobs yourself? i bet your view point would completely change once you had a public sector job

What is other pay? People think this is bad do a check on some communities in California. Don hate the player, hate the game. If your single go through the list and find someone also single and marry them. Add up your two incomes and your good.

As a former State of Nevada employee, I can assure you that no one I knew was over paid or under worked. We worked our butts off for people like you just so you could complain about us. Saying that government employees don't earn what they make is like saying a one armed wallpaper hanger should only get half pay. He is actually working twice as hard as those with two arms isn't he? If you've never walked the walk don't try to talk the.....etc.

I will say that all State employees apply for city and county jobs constantly because they both pay more than the State. As far as cops and firemen are concerned, they couldn't pay me enough to put my life on the line every single day for whiners.

100k cops, are you people out of your minds?

Then add the Drop scams, sick time scams, cola's for life scams, huge early retirements and you kids will be in the poor house trying to pay for all of them.
What? How do my children pay in a state where we have no state income tax and low property taxes? Please enlighten us.

Please feel free to post your state and local tax burden. We are anxiously awaiting your numbers.

RE taxes will go up every year for quite a while now, and so won't the city fee's.
This place is only going in that direction because you people from those anal (dare I say Libs) eastern cities that tax you to death are all moving here with your tax and spend ideas and either getting into office somehow, or influencing those that do ....or should I say tax and graft?

Which taxes are going up ever year? Seems to me people are complaining that they don't get to pay more taxes. Or is it that they want me to pay more but somehow get out of it themselves?

I don't know why we're [language] but he does make a few bad points based on no real knowledge at all. Anyway, can you see a city of 2 million with a volunteer fire department? I don't think any town over 900 people has one that actually knows how to put out a fire or rescue anyone. Maybe we could get Andy Griffith to run it for us. Wouldn't work here because I never see bib overhauls sold locally, and most people I know have teeth.
