On the weekends it is a $10 flat fee in the parking lots.

Where do local people park if they want to go to the downtown farmer's market on Friday's without having to pay to park down there?

At the old bus station itself or Main Street Station, usually free.

El Cortez, I believe, offers free parking with a player's card still. But, I agree with Wagner. Just valet. Tip a couple bucks, and you're on your way.

Free parking is slowly going away. When one casino charges for parking, then everyone just parks at the casino that does not charge, which overloads the free parking garages. Then the paying customers have no where to park.

(There is an article on this in one of the local magazines, can't remember which one.)

When we do go downtown, we park in the California garage, take the elevator to casino level and validate the ticket near the change machine, watch a laser show, let them play a roll or two, get some Mardi Gras type multi-color necklaces from the ornately dressed showgirls, check out some street art if they are out, I'll smoke a cigar, walk back to the California, get in car, drive home, done. ...

Did Binions make it harder to get validated? I have been parking in their garage and getting the ticket stamped in the noisy machine near the cashier since I turned 21

El Co changed their policy. They charged me $2.50 the other day for their parking garage WITH the lowest level of their players card.

Under the bridge at Main Street. Or, we park a few blocks over on 6th or 7th. And walk. After 6 it is free. Valet works for a few buck if anyone is unable to walk.
